The ultimate political prize is to be able to set the paradigm, that is, to set the norm, the standard, to claim that your policy package is the truth. The capitalist system is the current paradigm; the way life goes, we need a paradigm to live in and define reality. Paradigm shifting can be scary>>we know what it takes to live inside the paradigm, in our case, to compete and win; it is scary to imagine playing by the rules of a different reality. When the marxist worldview failed, reality began to collapse and a new paradigm of global capitalism was created. Plato: we speak of theories as if they were duelling paradigms . Socrates: theory is also always standing outside the battle to try and see what is happening, how, and why. Before capitalism, there was the catholic paradigm, and before that there were the ancient philosophers who sought to find an absolute truth.
