Has to do with what is in the foreground and what is in the background. We decide how we group parts of images together. Where you look, what you choose and where is the background. Black slide visual system groups things together and creates what we perceive. Group together two sets of parallel lines because there are two separate visual things. When acluters are there we group them all together. We do this without conscious knowledge and do this very quickly. We have a catalogue in our brain that we root around for and find the best match. Black slide identical stimuli match different perceptual schemas as the orientation changes. Brain decides to see different scheme for same stimuli.
