Document Summary
The scientific study of behavior and the mind. Individual and psychological factors (e. g. learning, cognitive processes) Taking the nervous system and neurology into consideration. These different levels are just different ways of explaining behavior. None of them are the right or wrong way, they are all just different perspectives. Each of them are equally valid, but they have different methodology and focus. They will all give valid answers within their own context. Focus on the function or significance of behavior. How does a behavior or mental process help us to adapt. Example: psychobiology, neuroscience (very explicit answers about how things are wired a certain way) and ethology (getting an idea of behavior through observation of the natural environment) Example: brief psychodynamic therapy and unconscious processing (measuring the unconscious processes). Example: learning theories (how people and learn and put things into their memories) and behavior modification (treatment for phobias and anxieties).
