Who were the pioneers of psychology? (** next time: history and methods + finish ch 1 **) Explanations of behaviour (3 levels) all connected somehow and occur simultaneously. Heat, noise, pollution affect how a person can be more aggressive. Ex aggression is valued in our culture but other cultures value passive behaviour. How the person was brought up (ex. growing up around abusive parents) How people approach factors that may affect someone (ex. something that can anger me may not anger someone else because of how the individual is thinking and linked) How an individual thinks and interprets what is occurring around them. Neural/biological mechanisms and chemicals involved in responses/ reactions (ex. aggression) Each are valid and needed to fully comprehend behaviour. Focus on the function or signi cance of behaviour. How does a behaviour (or mental process) help us to adapt. Focus on behaviour forget the mind (all tangible evidence and what can be evidently seen)
