E. g. for any species if we reward a behaviour, the organism will do that behaviour more often; if we punish it, then the behaviour will decrease. Is the result of simple learning processes in the cns (not the sensory neurons, which are in the pns) Like selective attention helps focus on the important: sensitization: increase in the strength of response to a repeated stimulus. E. g. electric shock, (cid:862)(cid:373)(cid:373)(cid:373)-ka(cid:455)(cid:863: basically the opposite of habituation (helps us to avoid potentially dangerous stimuli, sometimes, experiencing the same thing over and over makes it more and more annoying (rather than less and less).
