Chapter 7: theories and models commonly used for health promotion interventions. Theory: set of interrelated concepts, definitions, and propositions that presents a systematic view of events or situations by specifying relations among variables to explain and predict the events of a situation. Health education specialists theories help to develop organized, systematic, and efficient approaches to investigating health behaviours (ose) Once investigations produce satisfactory results & are replicated, findings can be used to design theory-based intervention programs. Fully-developed theory, 3 elements: (mrc) major factors that influence interest e. g. ) factors that explain why some people are active and some are not relationship between these factors conditions under which these relationships do/do not occur. Model: mixture of ideas or concepts taken from any number of theories and used together. Draw on a number of theories to understand a specific problem.
