Document Summary

Barring brain damages, we remain capable of forming new long term memories until we die. The storage capacity of long term memory is essentially unlimited. There are two main subtypes: declarative memory, procedural memory. Declarative memory: facts, info, and personal life events that can be brought to the mind verbally or in the form of images. Episodic memory: contains the memory of events we have experienced personally. The people we have known, the places we have seen, and the personal experiences we have had. Semantic memory: our memory of general knowledge; made up of facts and general information. Procedural memory: is a part of the long-term memory that is responsible for knowing how to do things, also known as motor skills. As the name implies, procedural memory stores information on how to perform certain procedures, such as walking, talking and riding a bike.
