Document Summary

Lecture 4: appendix & research in psych 7. Need to know to calculate mean, median, mode for test (only need to calculate these) Eg. one can look at how does traffic density affect driving and how does cell phone usage affect driving. Find outliers - - - - - an interaction is seen: that in high density traffic + cell phone usage has a real effect. How does anxiety tests correlate with levels of neuroticism. No measurement is pure - we can only create a measurement of some things (eg. anxiety) Important if you want to know the randomness of a drug, we need to be very sure if it is to work and not affect patients negatively. What is the magnitude of the observed effect. Mean - average scores - the go to unless there"s huge outliers. Eg. average =100, sd = 15 then 1 above the average would be 115. Null hypothesis: there is no difference between groups.
