At least ive symptoms (couning sad mood and loss of pleasure) Symptoms are present nearly every day, most of the day, for at least 2 weeks. Symptoms are disinct and more severe than a typical response to signiicant loss. About two-thirds of people with an episode of major depression will experience at least one more episode during their life ime and one-third will not experience major depression again. Average number of episodes, lifeime, is about four. Women twice as likely men to have mdd.
