12 views3 pages

Document Summary

The primary way we organize things is meaning based (semantic memory). Feature models the comparison of features between categories forms relationships between categories. Network models relationship is part of what is stored and we represent this type of information between nodes of information, saying they are related in some fashion. Spreading activation reaction time studies show this by looking at reaction times for different tasks. Activation of one concept spreads automatically to other linked concepts, so if you find one fact you are looking for this connects you to other related facts. Schemas organized clusters of information that are situational and process oriented. These are a consequence of a series of personal experiences and therefore come from episodic memory. Give us a behavioural guide to see what the expected response for you to make is. They help us to differentiate between things, ie. , between a robin and a penguin (which are both part of the bird hierarchy).
