Standardization: normative or self-referent comparisons (or both) used in standard ways to evaluate scores, normative comparisons - comparing a person"s score w/ scores of sample of people who rep entire population/subgroup being studied. Standard deviation (sd) - measure that tells us how far away from the mean (average) a particular score is.
