Somatic symptom and related disorders: conditions in which physical symptoms or concerns about an illness cannot be explained by a medical or psychological disorder. Four different disorders: somatic symptom disorder, conversion disorder, illness anxiety disorder, and factitious disorder. Factitious disorder imposed on another occurs as an individual produces physical symptoms on another- normally mother imposing on a child.
