Just as there are numerous things that come to mind when we think about sex and sexuality, there are also numerous ways of approaching the study of sex and sexual behaviour, and numerous theories proposed to explain sexual issues. The study of sex is interdisciplinary, and as such, theories that been proposed to explain sexual issues, and research conducted to test such theories, come from a number of different perspectives. This unit reviews a number of theories that have been proposed to explain sexual attitudes and behaviours, including their development, variations, and so on. These theories come from various perspectives, including evolution, psychology, biology, and sociology.
