Life span development: the study of sexuality throughout the course of our lives. Infancy and the preschool years: birth 4: freud was first to express that children have sexual urges and engage in sexual behaviours, the capacity of the body to show a sexual response is present from birth. Infants are often observed fondling themselves: 6-12 months discover genitals by touching, 15-19 months increased touching, this is normal. Child-child encounters: children become more social and heterosexual play occurs, at this age, some children have viewed their own parents having sex.
