Individuals who had cataracts for 30 years had the surgery done. Problem was that they understood shapes through touch, not vision. Learning tangible objects through vision was difficult for them. However, learning colours was easy however, since they are only visual. Placed in front of a screen with about 150-20 dots. Individuals have who have normal perceptual abilities will be able to tell if all the dots are moving up or down, left or right. Individuals who have had corrective cataracts surgery can tell if all the dots are moving in a certain direction as well. Then, they only make 80% of the dots move together in one direction, and the other 20% all going in random directions. In this case, individuals who have had cataracts have an issue with distinguishing the second condition with the 80/20.
