Attitudes and criteria for research= accurate understanding. If we understand cause we can figure out how to change the behaviour. Lots of baloney and you need a kit to detect it. Want to have open mind but not too open. Need to think about what the critics would say. Cant just try to disprove other theories. Remove politics and ask what is the data. Theres a range, some are forsure known to be true and some are surely not true. Employs language of science but not the method. Appealing because solves some problem we have. Some people/companies who make stuff are really well known. Reason we use this is because it appeals to authority. We should always question and we should not just rely on authority.
