Rehabilitation Sciences 3760A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Baby Elephant Walk, Weight-Bearing, Inter-Rater Reliability
Document Summary
Class 4 child rehab september 29, 2016. For the most part it is all in order. Sometimes some kids acquire things before you would expect. Sometimes kids are not sitting independently, but pulling up to stand, and we need to look further considering whether it is concerning or not. Not only do we see variability in when, but also in how they do things: typical or not. When might children start walking: about 1 year. If a child is not walking at 18 months, is that concerning: maybe may be not, probably concerning. Active in their environment being relatively passve to being relatively ative in their environemtn and that changes over the course of their first year. Infants are trying to learn how to move around in their environment: they are interacting in their environment. Being upright might facilitate control of their environment. Progress in the 1st year: upright posture. Able to walk around without holding onto anything.
