Socialization - a lifelong learning process the involves development or changes in the individual"s sense of self. Manifest - ie. sports - to get people active. Latent - manifest actions ie. sports - teaches rules, involves social interaction, builds con dence, can help with social networks. We build personalities through socialization, interacting with others and our surroundings. Freud: id represents our unconscious instinctive dries, eros (life) and thanatos (death, superego represents our unconscious conscience, ego mediates between the conscious and the unconscious. Oversocialized: canadian sociologist dennis wrong argued that behaviourists work with an oversocialized representation of human beings, individuals are not passive recipients of the messages that our socializing agents give us, balance. Peer group can be de ned as a social group that shares key social characteristics such as age, social positions, and interests. Anticipatory socialization - the process of social learning directed toward gaining a desired position, commonly occurs among peers.
