Chapter 18: assisted suicide & euthanasia: intentionally ending a human life. The 1st person performs the act to end his or her own life. A situation in which a person dies because another individual intends that person to die & acts in such a way as to bring about that outcome. Voluntary euthanasia: the person who dies asked for or assented to his or her death. Nonvoluntary euthanasia: the will of the person who dies remains unknown. Involuntary euthanasia: (homicide?: the wishes of the person are known they want to be kept alive but someone else decides to end that life anyway. Potential forms of assistance: the means used to produce the death, the environment in which the act occurs, emotional support, some combination of these elements. When a person asks a physician to help end his or her life. A physician provides only the means & perhaps emotional support.
