Lab: painting translations of 2 artworks, 18th and 19th century, ta choose the painting. On projector screen in 302: translation is not a copy, translating composition, shape, form, figure/ground relationships. Not fine detail: each painting will be on one sheet of watercolour paper, 1 hour to pain each, time in between to clean brushes. Materials: watercolour block, water containers, have paper towels ready. Colour schemes: triadic, colours so add around the colour wheel, primaries, secondaries, and intermediates colours produce traffic colour schemes, monochromatic, using one hue with changes in value. Yellow + purple: split-complements, hue adjacent to true complement. Cool vs warm colours: cool -> blue, green, and purple, recede into pictorial space, warm -> red, orange, yellow, advance into pictorial space. Sketchbook #10: due monday march 23, physically handing it in, choose one out of 3 assignments, choice 1. Draw from observation: looking for time invested in drawing. Evidence drew in different locations: choice 2.
