Document Summary

Healthism- a new trend from the 80s about people caring about their health. You need to take an interest in your health out of moral obligation. Breastmilk and breastfeeding, a strong moral thread about this. One of the things that this does is encourage us to look at our body as a project. Engaging in this is called an entrepreneurial citizen. An ideal citizen, the person who does everything. A key message this sends is that we can be responsible for our health, and can improve it. On the surface this seems like it should be a good thing. When it becomes attached to morality and being a good person, negative things come from this. It becomes something that we can judge others about, and outwardly judge. This person is not a good person because they smoke etc. It does not take into account the reason why they smoke or what they get out of it.
