Manuals dispelled many sexual fears but also created new conservative sexual and gender norms as well as sexual double standards. While in some ways progressive, they perpetuated control. Shifting views of marriage increased public support of birth class women should be on it so they don"t reproduce because they are a burden to society. Conservatives only wanted elites to make babies > working they must limit family size so that the father and children may be taken care of properly. Women need to fulfill men"s sexual desires > to do this. Sexology = the scientific / interdisciplinary study of human sexuality. A lot of sexologists reproduced homosexuality and homophobia >> emphasis on the homosexual man instead of the homosexual act > sodomy. Actually forming social identities >> it wasn"t discovering them.
