Document Summary
Feminism: in my teens and 20s, i worried that feminism wouldn"t allow me to be the mess of a woman i knew myself to be. All too often, we act as if there is a right and wrong way to be a feminist, when that"s not the case. We can and should adopt the kind of feminism that best suits who we are and what we want. If getting political isn"t your thing, that"s fine. There is no one true essential feminism that dictates how you have to be. Your own brand of feminism is what you make itand can be as simple as a hashtag (#yesallwomen, #sorrynotsorry). Bottom line: feminism is grounded in supporting the choices of women even if we wouldn"t make certain choices for ourselves. Whatever feminism you choose -- good, bad, flawed, or half-assed -- the label isn"t something to fear. It doesn"t mean you want too much or despise men.
