Landscape: a social construction of space containing a bundle of practices, meanings, attitudes, and values. Sacred: prompts awe and reverences among believers of a particular religious tradition. Stylite northern syria monks built towers and spent rest of life on tower (called stylite monks) Mount nebo large narrow site, can see dead sea, jordan valley. Co(cid:374)der(cid:859)s circle stone circles, 6000 years ago, considered sacred. Iron age nebo recovered lamp, figurines, tower used for defense, cup, inscription that talks about king who conquered lands and rebuilt them (including nebo) Miquveh: jewish religious bath, for ritual purity: theory: purify yourself before you collect grapes, found pieces of pottery vessels, coins, ritual purity - associated with stone vessels. 3 churches, mosaics in the church contained inscriptions that told a lot. Found a chamber with a lot of artifacts.
