Document Summary

All of these organelles are directly or indirectly interconnected. Proteins are transported through all of these organelles as they are interconnected. Chemically modifies proteins made in rough er. Sorts finished proteins to be secreted from cell or embedded in plasma membrane. Vesicles used for storage, transportation and specialized functions. In plants, they take up 90% of the cell and retain a lot of water. The er is directly connected to the nuclear envelope. Protein synthesis happens at the rough er. Proteins then travel through vesicles, the vesicles fuse with the golgi complex and the proteins are released into the golgi complex. Vesicle is bring things from outside the cell to inside (endocytosis) Fuses with plasma membrane to bring in things. Vesicles are responsible for transporting small materials between compartments of the endomembrane system. Also used for secretion to cell exterior, and bringing small molecules into the cell.
