Document Summary

Module 1 - evolution and life on earth. The science of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution and distribution. The property or quality that distinguishes living organisms from dead organisms and inanimate matter, manifested in functions such as metabolism, growth , reproduction and response to stimuli or adaptation to the environment originating from within the organism. A system in which protein and nucleic acids interact in ways that allow the structure to grow and reproduce. Individually speaking, individuals do not evolve, however, populations evolve over time. The average human interacts directly/indirectly with about 10,000 species a day. Could be around 10, 000, 000 species on earth (does not include bacteria) and we only know around. There are also 4,000,000 and we only know about 10,000 of them. Biological classification is a hierarchy in which small groups are nested into larger ones. Species are designed using bother their genus and species name.
