Document Summary

Whether or not an animal will join a group. Joining rules: ideal free distribution, producer/ scrounger. At some stage of joining high quality patch would not benefit you, where as if you join the low quality patch will have a better pay off because there is less individuals. Plot out as number of foragers in a patch (independent) vs. fitness (foraging success on dependent) At some point in high numbers of high quality number will be the same as a lower quality patch. Should arrange themselves so that the average success of foraging is equal. As individuals join the patch, quality goes down so you need a replenishing rate so the quality stays the same, its just the number of individuals that change. Sparrows feed on seeds on the ground, a producer will look for a patch of seed. Scrounger watches producer who finds food then feeds in the feed.
