Orientalism - a set of assumptions you have. If the assumptions you have are hurtful and you knot know then that could be bad. He thinks we are very closed minded. There must be at least two groups for this to exist. The inferior group must be dominated - if we see a culture that doesn"t have medicine or proper technology then we step in. Part of this way of thinking, if taken too far could end up making other cultures pawns or things instead of people. With that power we understand them - we do not, but it is shameful to say that. They cannot govern themselves - they need democracy. It is our duty, even if they are not grateful.
