Week 3: monday, january 16th + wednesday, january 18th. Case study: legal trouble, copyright issues, control over intellectual property, labour disputes, youtube interviews, trends, prevalence in the tv industry. Intent research project that shows an understanding of how the industry operates. Audience was fragmented, more homogenous, more of a receptive position (the network chose when you were able to watch the shows). Industry big business, government funded and always within the intent that it would be supported through commercial/ads. In the post-tv area the tv is still an appliance, anything with a screen, multiple screens. Now the audience has atomized and personalized, audience that produces media/content. Industry could include small/independent voices: mobile viewing, multiple screens, new economics in the industry. Is it tv: story conventions transmedia narratives (ex. Star wars story that travels from different forms of ways to consume it ex. video games, movies, books, etc): produced webisodes on youtube, platform.
