Document Summary

Cp102 lesson 15: data mining, data mining is the process by which great amounts of data are analyzed and investigated. Most high-speed connections are provided by using t-lines. They are mostly high- speed fibre-optic communication lines that are designed to provide much higher throughput than conventional voice and data lines: network access points. The point of connections between isps were once known as network access points (naps). Now they are called internet exchange points (ixps). How computers talk to one another: data transmission and protocols. The internet follows standard protocols to send info between computers. Protocols had to be written and agreed upon by users when they were initially created: tcp/ip. The main suite of protocols used is tcp/ip. Transmission control protocol (tcp) and internet protocol (ip: tcp prepares data for transmission and provides error-checking. Ip is responsible for sending the info from one computer to the next: each device connected to the internet has a unique ip.
