A chemical substance that causes body to function differently. When taken in to the body alters the structure or functioning of the body in some way. Food is not a drug; drugs do not include nutrients considered to be related to normal functioning, ex. weed brownies are drugs. Psychoactive drug; influences the functioning of the brain and hence our beh. Increases brain activity, energy levels, wakefulness, heart rate and blood pressure. Licit drugs; drugs whose manufacture, sale or possession is legal ex. alcohol, nicotine, caffeine. Survey questionnaires; door to door (failed attempt), phone surveys (may not be honest), classroom surveys. 1 in 3 people who try tobacco become dependent on it. Perception that its dangerous, use of the drug drops. (cid:374)o (cid:396)el(cid:859)p (cid:271)et(cid:449)ee(cid:374) a(cid:448)aila(cid:271)ilit(cid:455) of d(cid:396)ug a(cid:374)d usage. Ethnic profiles; white high school students use the most drugs and alcohol. Gender profiles; aside from vandalism, males and females get into the same troubles when under the use of drugs.
