A computer is a thing, a real physical, thing and not just a virtual idea. Building a computer: central processing unit (cpu) the executive component, where all work it done. Cheap but limited since obtaining information from one end of the tape meant reading the entire tape. Were eventually replaced by disc drives: address bus and data bus the cpu communicates with rom and/or ram by a kind of highway known as the bus. Measures in hertz: (hz), where 1hz = 1 pulse per second. These now come in many forms to support various kinds of output devices. Common output devices include leds, terminals/monitors, printers, Input devices & input ports a way to influence what the computer does by providing additional external information.
