Methodology: relecion on the relaionship between the goal of the study and the methods that will be used to gather the materials on which the analysis will be based. Ethnographic ieldwork: involves spending an extended period immersed in a social and cultural seing: while diferent methods may be employed (surveys, interviews, etc. ) privileged place is given to the technique of paricipant observaion (deep hanging out) Textual analysis: a technique of close reading that can be applied to printed, visual, or audio texts. It is based on theories of language and seeks to highlight common codes, terms, ideologies, and discourse. Focus today: role of researcher"s ideniies and experiences in generaing knowledge about culture. Criics on let and right equate it with moral relaivism.
