The friction may or may not lead to violent physical. Conflict may or may not be part of development. Conflict and development do not go together. A country that is successful with development does not harbor wars. The claim is that democracies don"t fight each other. The people who elect the legislature have the authority to declare war. War cost human lives, puts the country in debt, and destroys infrastructure. When countries trade with each other have no incentives to fight. Conflict is part if the development process. We gave conflicts in the global south because conflict is internal to development. Each stage is unity of two opposing classes. At some point conflicts between the classes erupt into a revolution.
