Changing your support base results in increased latency. Might take longer but is more accurate. Examples: more time to select which foot to step with, and the oath to step over obstacles. Response time is shorter than voluntary reaction time, but longer than the stretch re ex. Ankle force precedes pulling force during voluntary arm pull. Central nervous system knows that the person is going to rapidly pull the level towards them. Knows and is anticipating that it has to respond to the postural disturbance. There is something pulling against the persons chest suggesting that they do not need the same adjustment. Postural muscles are recruited only when needed. Activation of musculature along with com/bos relationship when you need to start walking. During walking and running the body is in a constant state of falling as the com moves forward and laterally towards the leg that is in swing.
