Events and time intervals of rt and movement time. Foreperiod from warning signal to go signal. Reaction time (rt)- from go signal to initiation of the response. Movement time (mt) from initiation of the response to the termination of the response. Response time both rt and mt, response time = rt + mt. Use of rt in research and performance assessment. Rt has a long history as an index of specific aspects of human performance. Simple rt - when there is only one thing to do, you are putting your marker to. Choice rt there are multiple things to think about, holding more information, you have a slower reaction time because you have to process the information. Discrimination rt have to pick red, blue or green, the reaction time should be blue slower. Emg enables us to fractionate rt to obtain more specific information about movement preparation.
