Ring created that has the power to rule everyone. To destroy evil one must destroy the ring. Hobbit is given the task of destroying the ring. Good guys are the hobbits, most of the elves and humans, gandalf. Themes put you in a certain place where you expect a character to appear or some specific event to happen. First hearing the leit motif you might not know something is about to happen but as you continue to hear it you begin to associate it with things and it has predictive quality. First impressions from hearing a theme in a major key: uplifting, happy, nothing bad or something good is happening. Less conventional chord progressions that incorporate minor and major chords are less obvious in decoding. Usually minor major progressions show some sort of tension. Chord progressions have a lot to do with what is going on on screen. Something bad may be approaching but is not immediate.
