A new tech product that was not available before. New service there is growing need for but does not exist yet. Uber; google maps and cars existed before, paired them together to provide a service. Start up is not a smaller version of a big business bc they have nowhere near as many resources. Start up is a temporary organization in search of a scaleable, repeatable business model. Start ups are for searching, businesses are for executing. Goal of a start up should be to become a business. Air bnb; people who rent the apartments and people who rent out their apartments. Phils: customers expect cheap alcohol, music, a dancefloor. How you sell your product to customers/what platform you use. Organizations that give you access to your customers. Channels are more about reciprocity but partners = strategic reason someone wants to partner with you, ex meeting goals of their charitable spending, nonprofit that wants to fund you, etc.
