Document Summary

How to gauge how familiar you are with something (a spectrum) Ex pop music here is familiar, but for secluded bhuddists pop music would be unfamiliar. Individual scale, but can be community or nation. Anything else is marginalized (not important or disregarded) Might seem outdated but can be underlying philosophy: multicultural: Different groups (ethnic groups) stay in distinct bubbles. Tries to respect where the music comes from. Takes multiple musical approaches and their elements (history, theory, methodology, role of music) and approaches them on equal footing. None is more special than the other (opposite of monocultural) Continuum between static (unchanging) and in flux: tradition as a canon or body of works, standard with explicit/implicit set of rules, performance practice, music in culture, mechanism of handing down music. Of undisputed origin or genuine, yet this is very subjective. How you try to teach/share something in the new context.
