Document Summary
Intro to parmenides and the poem: parmenides tries to argue that all is one and nothing is changing, intro to the poem begins with parmenides and a goddess, parmenides believes there are 2 ways of inquiry. The first that it is, and that it is not possible for it to be = things that necessarily are. The things that exist because they exist. The second that it is not and that it is necessary that it is not = thing that necessarily don"t exist. Things that don"t exist we are unable to think about. Args for being/what is as: ungenerable, unchangable, imperishable. P1: if you come to be, you come to be something or northing. P2: you can"t come to be from something. False you can come to be from something as long as the something and what comes to be aren"t the same thing.
