Use of an observation schedule protocol to focus observation. Record as much as we can and interpret after observation. Identify observed behaviour versus interpretation of behaviour. Observational schedule must be detailed (use of ras) There are ample opportunities for random error and we cannot be sure that another researcher observing the same behaviour would draw the same conclusion. If we repeat the same case but there are different outcomes. Because of the personal nature of the observations and the potential for biased (samples) Being able to use the same case and apply the same structure ot get the same or a different outcome. (someone who has a detail knowledge and or understanding of what is going on) Sometimes a starting point of a research. The idea that people change their behaviour when they know they are being watched. Observing what is happening in a real environment in real time. A standardized pattern to know what we are looking for.
