Inequality is rising and is reflected in income. Inequalities in some of the political performances of daily life, if you don"t have the same rights or access, or means to influence politics, or politically marginalized, are all an issue of inequality. Leads to progress - advancement to something more desirable. However, you can have advancement in one sector, but contribute to lack of advancement in other sectors. (rural development, urban displacement) Think of development as set of continuums. If you can develop the economy of a nation, everything will fall into place. However, this thinking has shifted in recent decades, but no one will argue that economic development is not important. Quality of education, the accessibility of education.
