Informal sector: the part of the economy that is unregulated by the government while similar activities are regulated and taxed. There is a shortage od jobs available for people, and some people don"t have all of the qualifications . But the opportunities are still better than what was available in rural areas. Economic survival is hard for people in slums many work in the informal sector things are unregulated, untaxed there is an overlap in terms of legality. Some of these jobs may be legal and some are definitely un-legal. Jobs in the informal sector, don"t have benefits or security. Jobs here have a big range someone could be growing and selling vegetables, and some may be in the drug trade. There are benefits and advantages of the informal sector, but the disadvantages may be more apparent. Women usually earn less than men in the informal sector.
