Cognitive dissonance- idea that people forming opinions have the ability to change it, reduction of inconstancy. Polling- public opinion polling is based on assumptions. Women are most likely to support left parties and participate in online surveys. Older people are more likely to participate in phone surveys. People will change to fit with their social norms, problem with public opinion. Public opinion does not always pick laws or if they change and how.
