Descriptive: observation, naturalistic people watching, observing without influence in natural environments. Participants must fill out and preform something set out: as above, more controlled. Loss of spontaneity: bias again, case study unusual situation, used for enigmas. When someone is so interesting there is no group for the participant in a general group. (side note; hippocampus is critical for memory formations, tied into facial recognition): select or limited populations. What is a theory: a general principle or sweet of principles that explains how a number of separate facts are related to one another. From theory derive hypothesis: a prediction, a cause-effect relationship, manipulation.
