Dsm 5 (classification system) and icd (international classification of diseases) Chronic, resulting in lack of sleep, nausea, sweating. Recurrent, unpredictable, characterized by uncontrollable shaking & feeling of being smothered, strong social + health implications: phobias. Persistent fear of object/situation w no validation: ocd. Obsessive thoughts, compulsive, ritualistic activities to ease discomfort/danger: ptsd. Severe anxiety from trauma, can transport back to time of event.
