Properties: subjective: what you taste, private: others cannot directly know our reality (and vice versa, dynamic: ever-changing, self-reflective: mind is aware of its own consciousness. Lie et al. (2007: rate the likeability of people, subliminal odor, ask the class. Self-reports: direct but not verifiable: asking the person what they"re thinking. Behavioural: performance on tasks (i. e. rouge test);need to infer state of mind. Physiological: (i. e. eeg) are objective but cannot indicate what person is experiencing subjectively. Beta activity = when you"re awake/alert: beta fish active, aggressive, alert, 13-24 cps (cycles per second) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) Alpha = deep relaxation, blank mind, meditation more relaxed: 8-12 cps. Theta = light sleep: theater (acting) acting sleep, 5-8 cps.
