Prevocal learning: 2-4 months old, babies distinguish all phonemes they will alter use for language; cooing. Babbling over 6 months, meaningful experimental sounds preceding actual language. First words 1 year, simple single word talking begins with comprehension exceeding speech. Telegraphic speech- 2 years of age, simple sentences omitting all but essential words.
