Study: noticed people tended to do things differently than when they are alone i. e. riding a bike, compare speed when alone vs. riding with others. When you"re in a group, you"re more likely to speed up or perform better than when you"re on your own: triplet got kids to wind rope on this reel and see how quickly they would do it. Faster when in a group than when individual. But, sometimes you don"t do so well when youre in a group i. e. chess playing tricked up when a ton of people are watching you. Less likely if assigned overall to the group: challenging, involving tasks; rewards; friends; commitment to team; collectivist cultures; women. Individuals marked their answers first whiel alone, and then again after discussing their opinions with a group.
