A group is 2 or more people who interact together for a while, influencing each other and considering themselves as an us : interacting with one another, shared goals, interdependent. Alike in terms of age, sex, beliefs, etc. Attracted to one another sine they are like minded. They are cohesive, have qualities binding them together. Ability to perform better on simple or learned tasks when others are present. The presence of others is arousing and increases the ability to perform dominant responses. A natural response or response most likely to occur in a given situation. Exerting less effort when everyone"s efforts are pooled together toward a common goal, no one is individually responsible. Situations; individual cannot be evaluated, tasks are not meaningful, working with strangers, expect others to perform well, when inputs are redundant. Collective effort model - individuals do not expect their individual"s efforts to add much value collectively.
